Diversity Walks! Celebrate Diversity in all its forms and enjoy a walk around Peterborough!
Everyone is welcome - Come as who you are!
Millenium Park (east end of King St., Peterborough) Sunday May 16, 4pm
The Rainbow Service Organization is hosting an event on Sunday May 16th called "Diversity Walks" to give people the opportunity to publicly celebrate diversity of all forms. This event is so inclusive that each resident of Peterborough and the surrounding counties is invited to join in!
The International Day Against Homophobia (IDAH) is Monday May 17. This year, the theme for the IDAH is "Speaking about Silence" Homophobia in the Sports World? and the Rainbow Service Organization (RSO) wanted to mark the day in a way that is healthy and inclusive, encourages direct participation, and increases visibility in our community.
Gather at Millennium Park display room (east end of King Street in Peterborough) at 4:00 pm on Sunday May 16th. Around 4:15 we will walk through the park to Hunter Street and then will cross the Hunter Street Bridge (using the sidewalk) into East City and make our way south to Maria Street, crossing back to Millennium Park via the train bridge. A gathering at the end of the walk at Millennium Park will last until about 5:00 pm, and then we suggest participants spread out and enjoy a meal at one of the local downtown restaurants if they wish. Participants are also welcome to simply remain in Millennium Park for the duration of the walk and enjoy the outdoors. There will also be some tables at the gathering point available for providing information about community groups.
